Jason Soditch On this fantastic record, EXEC really hones in on whatever it is that makes their music so damn cool, then expands and refines it. I find “Ahead of Two Thoughts” to be super trippy and, while its not actually dark-sounding, it’s acknowledging the darkness and having fun with it, even mocking it, like having a party in hell.

Melbourne’s EXEK buck the trend for every Australian band to have a record released in the 2010’s by not being a psych-rock outfit. In fact, they’re an intriguing and smart group with shades of ESG, Public Image Limited and Melbourne royalty The Birthday Party.
